#AEWLAX Week 10: UAlbany Takes Over First Place

BOSTON – UAlbany improved to 4-0 in conference play with a 16-11 victory against previously unbeaten Binghamton to take over first place in the #AEWLAX standings, while New Hampshire and UMBC also came away with wins to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Great Danes secured the big win in their search for a second straight #AEWLAX regular season championship, outscoring the Bearcats 10-5 in the second of a contest that was 6-6 at the half. UNH took a significant step towards its first tournament berth since 2019 by beating Bryant 16-12 to improve to 2-2 in conference play. UMBC earned its first #AEWLAX victory, 18-9, over UMass Lowell.

UAlbany and Binghamton have clinched berths in the conference tournament and are both in action this week. UAlbany can earn at least a share of the regular season championship and clinch the top overall seed with a win against UNH. Binghamton still could earn a share of the regular season title with a win over UMass Lowell, and a loss by UAlbany in one of its final two contests.

The third conference matchup of the weekend pits Vermont (2-2) against UMBC (1-3). A UVM win would secure a berth in the #AEWLAX Tournament. If UMBC pulls off the victory they would move into a tie for third or fourth place in the standings, depending on UNH’s performance against UAlbany.

The preseason poll was announced on January 26.
