The 2023 college lacrosse season officially begins this weekend and America East is looking forward to making history in May when for the first time the conference’s women’s lacrosse championship game will air on ESPNU. America East joins the ACC as the only conference’s to have its championship games scheduled on an ESPN linear network.
The help facilitate the ESPNU television opportunity, the America East Women’s Lacrosse Championship dates have changed. The semifinals will be played on Friday, May 5 and the title game will be Sunday, May 7 at 10 a.m. The entire championship will be hosted by the No. 1 seed.
“We are ecstatic for this opportunity and thankful to our partners at ESPN for working with us to make it happen,” said America East Commissioner, Brad Walker. “Providing exposure for our student-athletes to showcase their tremendous talent on the national stage is a strategic priority for us as a conference and adding opportunity for a women’s sport will be incredibly impactful.”
In addition to the women’s lacrosse championship game being televised, the men’s lacrosse title game will also air on ESPNU. That will take place on Saturday, May 6 at 1 p.m. The men’s semifinals are Thursday, May 4. The entire tournament will be played at the No. 1 seed.
The America East lacrosse championship games join the men's and women's basketball championship games as those broadcast for ESPN linear television. The majority of America East telecasts air on ESPN+/3 as part of the AE on ESPN platform.
