#AESB Week 3: UMBC Goes Unbeaten

BOSTON – Two programs were in action last week, highlighted by an impressive 4-0 mark from UMBC, who gave up just four runs over the weekend.  

All six #AESB teams take to the field this week, playing 26 games throughout the country. The Retrievers look to extend their win streak, while Binghamton also seeks to improve on its three-game win streak.

#AESB Weekly Award Winners – Feb. 28
Player of the Week
Madison O’Berg, UMBC – Sr., 1B/P, Lorain, Ohio
  • Went 5-for-6 with two RBI in a pair of wins, as well as 1-0 in 5.0 IP in one appearance.
  • Finished 3-for-3 with two RBI against Lafayette while also tossing 5.0 innings and striking out four to earn the win.
  • This is O’Berg’s first career Player of the Week honor.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Jerzie Nutile, UMBC – So., Pitcher, Pasadena, Md.
  • In her second career start, tossed a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts.
  • Allowed just four hits and walked one in the win, 6-0 over Lafayette.
  • This is Nutile’s first career Pitcher of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Amaya Carroll, UMBC – Fr., Pitcher, Hanover, Md.
  • Went 5.0 innings, allowing just one run and two hits with one strikeout to earn first career victory.
  • This is Carroll’s first #AESB Rookie of the Week honor.
