2023 #AESD Champs: UMBC Men and UNH Women Hold Strong on Day 3

WORCESTER, Mass - Both reigning champs continue to dominate after night three of the #AESD Championships.

The Retrievers' extended their lead to 613 points, while Binghamton's men's team pulled into second with 558. Bryant fell to third with their 434 points amassed.

On the women's side, the Wildcats' increased their total to 561 points. Bryant held strong to remain in second with 474 points, while Vermont's women took over third with 394.5.

Day 3 Results

How It Happened:
  • The diving events wrapped up with Bryant's Kyriana Chambo earning the gold in the women's 1 meter with her score of 254.25.
  • Bryant also claimed the second event of the night with Samantha Grenon's 4:19:19 in the women's 400 IM.
  • Binghamton's Henry Shemet broke his own #AESD record set last year, with his 3:52:33 in the men's 400 IM.
  • Hally Laney earned Vermont's first gold of the night in the women's 100 butterfly with her 55:34.
  • UMBC's Oliver Gassmann broke the men's 100 butterfly record in prelims with his NCAA B Cut qualifying time of 46:32. He carried his domination into the finals landing in first with 46:85.
  • Vermont's second gold medalist was Jackie's House with her 1:49:08 in the women's 200 free.
  • Binghamton's Liam Murphy took the men's 200 free with his 1:37:26.
  • Jamy Lum led New Hampshire to gold in the women's 100, finishing in 1:01:92.
  • Daniel Nicusan toppled the men's #AESD 100 breast record with his B Cut time of 53.98. VMI's Jack Sheehan also qualified for the NCAA's B Cut, landing in second with 54:22.
  • Reagan Lord earned a gold for Bryant's women with her 54:51 finish in the 100 back.
  • Bryant went one-for-one in the 100 back, as Griffin Lajoie took the title for the men's with his 48:49.
  • The final women's medal of the night was claimed by New Hampshire with their 3:44:14 in the 400 medley relay.
  • UMBC's men closed out the night with their 3:14:30 in the 400 medley relay.
