BOSTON – We’ll be past the halfway point of the #AEFH and #AEWSOC seasons by Sunday, while the #AEMSOC and #AEVB standings will start to take shape after one more full weekend of action.
Field Hockey
Friday
UC Davis at #18 UAlbany – 2 p.m.
Stanford at Vermont – 3 p.m.
Bryant at Maine – 3 p.m.
California at #17 UMass Lowell – 3 p.m.
Sunday
Stanford at #18 UAlbany – 12 p.m.
California at Bryant – 12 p.m.
UC Davis at Vermont – 12 p.m.
New Hampshire at #17 UMass Lowell – 3 p.m.
It’s a big weekend of field hockey, highlighted by undefeated UNH (4-0) at #17 UMass Lowell (2-0), with the winner earning an inside track towards the No. 1 seed. It will be a battle of the league’s two best offenses and the only two averaging over 3.0 goals per game this year. = UML has also been potent on defense and only allowed three teams to score more than one goal against them this year.
#18 UAlbany (3-0) also has a pair of key contests this weekend. The Great Danes host a pesky UC Davis (1-2) squad and then Stanford (0-4), which is searching for its first conference win, but did play them in last year’s conference championship. Vermont (1-2) also faces the two west coast schools with eyes of getting over .500, while Bryant faces Maine and California.
Men’s Soccer
Saturday
#15 Vermont at NJIT – 3 p.m.
Bryant at New Hampshire – 6 p.m.
Binghamton at UAlbany – 6 p.m.
UMBC at UMass Lowell – 7 p.m.
The 15th ranked Catamounts are unbeaten in their past nine contests and put their 2-0 conference mark on the line against NJIT. They haven’t allowed more than one goal to any opponent this season. The Highlanders are currently tied for second in the league with four points and are 4-4-3 overall as they look to make a statement at home.
Both Bryant and New Hampshire have yet to earn a win in conference play this year through two matches. The Bulldogs do own a league-best .850 overall win percentage (8-1-1) and have allowed just two goals this year, while the Wildcats are 6-1-3 and unbeaten in their last six games with a 9-2 scoring differential during that span. Binghamton and UAlbany square off in a battle of New York while UMass Lowell welcomes UMBC.
Volleyball
Friday
New Hampshire at Binghamton – 6:07 p.m.
Bryant at UAlbany – 7 p.m.
Sunday
NJIT at New Hampshire – 1 p.m.
Bryant at Binghamton – 1 p.m.
UMBC at UAlbany – 4 p.m.
Binghamton (1-0) looks to keep its spot atop the #AEVB standings with a pair of matches this weekend. The Bearcats are 7-8 overall and host 11-8 New Hampshire (0-1) on Friday evening before squaring off against Bryant (0-1) on Sunday. The Wildcats took down Binghamton in the #AEVB Semifinals a season ago and currently boast the best opponent hitting percentage in the league at .173. Binghamton, meanwhile, leads the league in hitting at .211 and ranks second in aces with 2.0 per set.
Bryant looks for its first win, traveling to UAlbany (0-1) on Friday and then hosts NJIT (1-1) on Sunday. UMBC looks to improve on its 2-0 conference mark at UAlbany on Sunday, while NJIT goes to UNH for a 1 p.m. contest.
Women’s Soccer
Sunday
Binghamton at UMass Lowell – 12 p.m.
Maine at NJIT – 1 p.m.
UAlbany at Bryant – 1 p.m.
Vermont at UMBC – 2 p.m.
Maine (7-0-4) is just 1 of 8 schools nationally who haven’t suffered a loss this season, and the Black Bears put that record on the line against a tough NJIT team. The Highlanders have won two straight and are 1-1-1 in conference play, but have to contain the Black Bears who are averaging a conference-best 2.4 goals per game.
Binghamton is the only other #AEWSOC program without loss, sitting at 2-0-2 and 3-4-5 overall. The Bearcats are unbeaten in their past five contests and face a UMass Lowell team which is 1-1-1 in league play but has only scored more than one goal in two games this year. Bryant (1-1-2) looks to continue its strong play in #AEWSOC action against UAlbany (0-2-2), while UVM (1-2) travels to face UMBC (0-2-2).
Cross Country
Three programs travel to compete in the NEICAA Championships in Boston on Saturday, while NJIT hosts a pair of meets.
