#AEWLAX Poll: Vermont Picked to Repeat in 2023

BOSTON – Following the program’s first America East Championship last spring, Vermont women’s lacrosse edged UAlbany to take first in the 2023 #AEWLAX Preseason Poll.
 
The Catamounts received four first place votes and 34 total points while the Great Danes, last year’s runner-up, was right behind with 33 points and the remaining three first place votes. UMBC and newcomer Bryant were tied for third with 21 points apiece, while Binghamton (18), UMass Lowell (12) and New Hampshire (8) rounded out the poll.
 
 
Vermont returns a pair of All-Americans in defender Carolyn Carrera and midfielder Ava Vasile.
Other top returners include UAlbany All-America Katie Pascale and 2022 #AEWLAX Rookie of the Year Kolby Weedon from UMBC. Bryant’s Kenna Kaut joins the league after earning NEC Offensive Player of the Year honors last spring.
 
The Catamounts open the 2023 season for the conference, facing Temple on Feb. 10. Binghamton, UMBC, UMass Lowell and UNH play the following day, while UAlbany faces Johns Hopkins on Feb. 12. Bryant begins its season on Feb. 15 at home against Holy Cross. Teams are scheduled to play a total of six league games, facing each league opponent once. Full 2023 #AEWLAX Schedule
 
The top four teams in the conference standings will qualify for the 2023 America East Women’s Lacrosse Championship, which will be held at tournament's No. 1 seed. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEWLAX this season. Several games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.
