Six Softball Standouts Named NFCA All-Region

BOSTON – The America East had six softball student-athletes earn NFCA All-Region honors, as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.
 
UMass Lowell, UMBC and Stony Brook all had a pair of student-athletes secure All-Region honors. UMass Lowell’s Ryley White was named to the Northeast Region First-Team as a pitcher, while teammate Becca Vaillancourt was selected as a Third-Team Designated Player. UMBC’s Courtney Coppersmith and Kya Matter were named to the Mid-Atlantic Region Second-Team as a UT/P and pitcher. Stony Brook’s Dawn Bodrug was Mid-Atlantic Region Second-Team selection at pitcher while Corinne Badger was named Third-Team as a catcher.
 
White earned Second-Team All-Conference honors earlier this season and currently ranks second in the America East in wins (16) and third in ERA (1.68). She also has recorded 138 strikeouts in 129.1 innings. Vaillancourt was also a Second-Team All-Conference honoree this year and finished the season batting .310 with a .413 on-base percentage, 44 hits, 13 doubles and caught eight runners stealing.
 
Coppersmith earned America East Pitcher of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honors this season. She currently ranks first in the nation with a 0.26 ERA and 13.8 strikeouts per seven innings. Coppersmith has 11 wins and six saves in 107.0 innings while also batting .331 this year with 40 hits. Matter was the Rookie of the Year in the conference and a Second-Team All-Conference selection. She ranks second in the league in ERA (0.98), third in strikeouts (175) and fourth in wins with 15, while throwing 107.0 innings.
 
Bodrug was a Second-Team All-Conference selection this year and finished her season with a league-best 18 wins, 285 strikeouts and 174.2 innings pitched. She also ranked fourth in the America East with a 2.00 ERA. Badger led the conference in slugging (.716) and home runs (16) this year, while batting .312 with 33 runs and 44 RBI.
