Four teams are headed to Albany for the 2022 America East Women’s Lacrosse Championship after the final two tickets were punched in thrilling fashion on the final day of the regular season. UAlbany had already secured the top seed and will host the tournament for the first time since 2011.
The final seeds for the 2022 #AEWLAX Championship are:
- UAlbany
- Vermont
- Binghamton
- UMBC
With 25 seconds remaining in overtime, Binghamton scored on a free-position shot to beat Vermont and clinch the Bearcats' second championship berth in program history.
UMBC secured the No. 4 seed following a 13-10 win over New Hampshire, marking the third consecutive tournament berth for the Retrievers.
The Great Danes will host the Retrievers in the first semifinal on Thursday at 3 p.m. followed by a rematch between the Catamounts and Bearcats Thursday at 6 p.m.
The semifinal winners will go head-to-head for the 2022 conference championship on Saturday at 2 p.m.
