Softball 3/22/2022 11:02:10 AM UMBC Extends Win Streak to 13 Games, Earns #AESB Honors BOSTON – UMBC continued to roll last week extending its win streak to 13 games, the fourth-longest win streak in the country behind only Oklahoma, UCLA and UCF. The Retrievers posted six wins, including their first over B1G foe Maryland since 1997. The Retrievers lead the way atop the standings sat 15-4 with conference play on the horizon. Stony Brook (12-8), UMass Lowell (12-8) and Binghamton (11-10) also sport winning records. After one more week of non-league play, conference action starts up April 2. Compiled a league-best 1.614 OPS in a 3-1 week. Slashed .571/.571/1.143 with four extra base hits, including a pair of home runs. Scored five runs and drove in six. This is Costello’s first pair of weekly honors. Racked up an impressive 2.571 OPS hitting .500 with a 2.000 slugging percentage in five games last week. All six of her hits were home runs. Drove in 11 runs and scored six. This is Badger’s first career Player of the Week honor. Pitcher of the Week Courtney Coppersmith, UMBC – Sr., Pitcher, UMBC Went 2-0 while allowing just one earned run in 14 innings pitched. Threw her eighth career no-hitter in a 4-0 victory over Quinnipiac on Saturday. Struck out 20 hitters. This is Coppersmith’s second Pitcher of the Week honor of the season. Co-Rookie of the Week Kya Matter, UMBC – Fr., Pitcher, Dalmatia, Pa. Went 3-0 while allowing only one earned run on four hits in 10 1/3 innings pitched. Struck out 20.
