Masera Leads #6 Stony Brook to win over #16 Johns Hopkins

BOSTON – No. 6 Stony Brook battled two more ranked opponents on the lacrosse field last week and came away with a 16-5 win over No. 16 Johns Hopkins on Sunday.
 
UMBC, UMass Lowell and Vermont all won games by wide margins and New Hampshire was the fifth #AEWLAX team to win a game last week. The Catamounts host Manhattan Monday afternoon in the first game this week.
 
 
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEWLAX this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

Offensive Player of the Week
Ellie Masera, Stony Brook – So., Midfielder, Eastport, N.Y.
  • Had a 10-point week on nine goals and an assist in two games against ranked opponents.
  • Scored four goals in Stony Brook’s win over No. 16 Johns Hopkins.
  • This is her second consecutive Player of the Week honor and of her career.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Sophie McLaughlin, Vermont – Sr.. Goalkeeper, Keene, N.H.
  • Held Marist to just five goals in Vermont’s win.
  • Made seven saves.
  • This is McLaughlin’s second career Player of the Week honor and first this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Jade Catlin, UMass Lowell – Fr., Midfielder, Middletown, Md.
  • Had an 11-point week on 8 goals and three assists.
  • The freshman’s four-point game helped UMass Lowell top Wofford and Catlin followed with five goals and a pair of assists against Quinnipiac.
  • This is her first career #AEWLAX weekly honor.
