WORCESTER, Mass. – The 2022 America East Swimming and Diving Championships returned to WPI Thursday as four medal events headlined the opening day.
Here are the top-three in the team standings after the first day of competition:

- Maine senior PhilAnn Dixon became the first Black Bear in #AESD history to win the one-meter dive, scoring 253.20 in the finals.
- Chris Egan won his second gold medal in three years in the three-meter dive and became the third consecutive Bearcat to win the event.
- UMBC narrowly swept both 200 medley relays.
- Vermont won its first gold in the 800 freestyle relay since 2009 in 7:20.26.
- Binghamton swam a 6:34.62 in the men’s race to capture first place for the first time since 2003.
- The Retriever quartet of Luka Zuric, Daniel Nicusan, Oliver Gassmann and Bode Neele touched the wall in 1:28.65 to edge Binghamton by two tenths of a second.
- Just prior, Caroline Sargent, Jenna Gwinn, Sierra Tosten and Makaela Hill clocked in at 1:41.33 to edge UNH.
