BOSTON – 2022 was a banner year for the America East, featuring 18 conference championships and multiple NCAA Tournament victories. Below are some of the top moments captured on social media this year!
UVM Men’s Soccer Advances to NCAA Quarterfinals
The Catamounts advanced to their first NCAA Quarterfinals since 1989 with a 3-0 shutout of UCLA back on Nov. 26. A week later UVM fell to eventual National Champion Syracuse 2-1.
UAlbany Field Hockey Takes Down No. 4 Michigan
The Great Danes took home their first conference championship since 2018 via a shootout against Stanford. In the First Round they drew No. 4 Michigan, who was playing at home. The game went to overtime and in the extra session, Sophia Schoonmaker scored on a breakway to deliver a 2-1 victory.
World Series MVP Jeremy Pena
Astros rookie Jeremy Pena showed up on the biggest stage this November in leading Houston to the World Series. The former Black Bear shortstop was named ALCS MVP after leading his team to a sweep over the Yankees. He was later named World Series MVP, the first rookie position player to receive the honor.
Binghamton Baseball Captures America East Championship
The Bearcats took home the 2022 Championship behind a dynamic offense culminating with a 7-1 win over UMass Lowell in the championship game Saturday night at Mahaney Diamond. They went 3-0 in the tournament while scoring 35 runs.
America East Welcomes Bryant
The America East announced the addition of Bryant on March 29, 2022 as its newest member. The Bulldogs officially joined the conference on July 1, 2022 and competed in all six of our conference championships this fall.
