BOSTON - In the midst of a successful fall season that includes a deep NCAA tournament runs by Vermont men's soccer and UAlbany field hockey, the America East Conference announced its first rendition of the 2022-23 Stuart P. Haskell, Jr., Commissioner's Cup standings on Thursday afternoon.
Coming out of the 2022 fall season, New Hampshire leads the pack with 150 points after capturing championships in men's and women's soccer. Binghamton follows closely in second place with 128 points and UAlbany in third place with 125 points.
The Commissioner's Cup annually recognizes the strongest athletic program in America East as determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success both during the regular season and championship competition in the conference's 18 sports.

- Six of America East’s nine member institutions won a championship or regular-season title this fall.
- UMass Lowell swept the cross country titles for the third-straight year becoming the first America East school to do so in 30 years.
- UNH swept the men's soccer crowns and captured its fourth tournament crown in five seasons.
- The Wildcats sit atop the fall standings for the first time since the 2017-18 season after winning men's and women's soccer championships.
- Binghamton's second-place status through the fall is its best in program history. The Bearcats won regular-season crowns in both women's soccer and volleyball and had runner up finishes in women's soccer and both men's and women's cross country.
The scoring system for the Stuart P. Haskell, Jr. Commissioner's Cup is as follows: In sports where regular-season round robin competition is conducted, the first-place institution in the final standings receives four points times the total number of teams involved in conference play. The second-place institution receives four less points; third place receives eight less points, and so on. Additionally, the America East (tournament) champion receives two points times the total number of teams participating in the championship. The second-place institution receives two less points; third place receives four less points and so on down to the last-place institution which receives two points.
In sports where regular-season round robin competition is not conducted (cross country, track & field, swimming & diving), the first-place institution at the America East championship receives two points times the total number of teams participating in the championship. The second-place institution receives two less points; third place gets four less points and so on down to the last place team which receives two points.
