BOSTON – The Stony Brook Seawolves have been selected to finish first in the standings at the end of the 2022 women’s lacrosse season.
The Seawolves rank No. 5 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Preseason Poll and were a unanimous selection to top the #AEWLAX standings, earning the maximum 36 points.

Preseason All-American and 2021 Defensive Player of the Year Rayna Sabella (Stony Brook) headlines the group of returnees. Goalkeeper of the Year Sophie McLaughlin (Vermont) and Rookie of the Year Katie Pascale (UAlbany) are also back this spring.
Four teams kick off the season on Saturday, Feb. 12. No. 5 Stony Brook opens its slate on Feb. 20 at No. 3 Syracuse. Conference play begins on March 19 as teams are scheduled to play a total of six league games, facing each league opponent once. Hartford will not field a team in 2022. Full #AEWLAX Schedule
The top four teams in the conference standings will qualify for the America East Women’s Lacrosse Championship, which will be held at tournament's No. 1 seed. The semifinals take place on May 5 and the championship tilt on May 7. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEWLAX this season. Several games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV.
