UMBC Claims #AESB Regular-Season Title, #AEChamps Hosting Rights for First Time

For the first time in program history, UMBC is the America East softball regular-season champion. The Retrievers took two of three games from Stony Brook over the weekend to win the crown for the first time. As a result, UMBC will host next week’s conference championship at The Diamond on its campus.  #2 UAlbany, #3 Stony Brook and #4 UMass Lowell will travel to Baltimore to comprise the tournament field.

The double elimination tournament will feature four teams for the first time since 2015 and kicks off on Thursday, May 13 with #1 UMBC, which won the last #AESB championship in 2019, facing #4 UMass Lowell at 1 p.m. and #2 UAlbany, winner of six in a row, taking on #3 Stony Brook at 3:30 p.m. Three games are scheduled for Friday, May 14 and the championship round is Saturday, May 15.
