STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Following a 14-8 win over No. 20 Towson, No. 5/6 Stony Brook has advanced in its fourth-straight NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship and seventh in the last eight postseasons. The Seawolves will play in the second round for the eighth consecutive tournament.
The No. 8 team in the tournament went down 1-0 on its home field but went on to score six unanswered goals and lead for the majority of the game. Two of the top players in the nation showed out as Taryn Ohlmiller (4 G, 3 A) and Ally Kennedy (3 G, 2 A) led the way for Stony Brook. It was their second win over Towson this season.
The Seawolves will play the winner of Drexel/Rutgers on Sunday at noon at LaValle Stadium. All games will be broadcast on ESPN3. Sunday will mark the fourth time Stony Brook plays in the second round in their own stadium. Joe Spallina’s squad advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in back-to-back years in 2017 and 2018.
