UMBC Clinches #AEWLAX Championship Bid Behind Record-Setting Day

BOSTON – The 2021 #AEWLAX Championship field has been determined with five games remaining on the regular season schedule. Stony Brook (6-0), UAlbany (6-2), Vermont (5-3) and UMBC (5-3) will all play in this year’s postseason.

The Seawolves became the first America East team in any sport to win 50 consecutive conference games by defeating the Great Danes on Saturday. The streak is the second-longest active conference win streak in Division I sports, trailing only Oklahoma softball. The Retrievers set a conference-game record with 27 goals against Binghamton. The Catamounts clinched for the first time since 2015 by defeating UNH.

Entering the final week of the regular season, seeding is still up-for-grabs with the regular-season champion slated to host the championship. No. 6/7 Stony Brook is scheduled to travel to New Hampshire for a Wednesday matinee on AmericaEast.tv. On Saturday, the Seawolves are scheduled to host UMBC while UAlbany is scheduled to play at Binghamton and Vermont is expected to host UMass Lowell.
