NEWARK, N.J. – New Hampshire captures its ninth #AESD championship title and Binghamton wins the Men’s 2021 America East Swimming and Diving Championship for the first time since 2003.
Jamy Lum of New Hampshire was named Most Outstanding Swimmer. Lum took first place in the 100 and 200 breaststroke for the second consecutive year and she took gold in the 500 free.
Natalija Marin of UMBC earned the Dave Alexander Coaches' Award, which honors the late Stony Brook University coach and is presented to the female student-athlete in her last year of eligibility who scored the most individual points at the America East Swimming & Diving Championships over the last four years. Marin collected a total of 198.5 points.
Abby McKinney of New Hampshire captured the Most Outstanding Rookie Award. The Freshman finished 6th in the 100 freestyle, 4th in the 200 butterfly and took gold in the 100 butterfly.
During last week’s Diving Championship, Binghamton’s Sophia Howard won the women's 1-meter and 3-meter diving events and was named Most Outstanding Diver.
Ian Horstkamp-Vinekar of NJIT was named the Most Outstanding Rookie award. The freshman finished 2nd in the 100 butterfly and took gold in the 200 butterfly and the 200 backstroke.
Niklas Weigelt from UMBC was named thee Most Outstanding Swimmer. Weigelt placed 2nd in the 100 free and took first in the 50 free and 200 free. Kai Wisner of UMBC earned the David Alexander Coaches Award, which honors the late Stony Brook University coach and is presented to the male student-athlete in his last year of eligibility who scored the most individual points at the America East Swimming & Diving Championships over the last four years. Weigelt collected a total of 219 points.
David Walters of Binghamton was named Most Outstanding Diver last weekend after winning both the men's 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
Binghamton’s Ryan Board and New Hampshire’s Anna Metzler received the Elite 18 Award. Board has a 3.85 GPA in chemistry while Metzler holds a 3.93 GPA in biomedical science / medical lab science.
New Hampshire earned the women’s swimming and diving coaching staff of the year award and Binghamton was named men’s swimming and diving coaching staff of the year.

- UMBC’s freshman Bode Neale won the 100 free in a time of 44.76.
- Freshman Daniel Nicusan of UMBC touched the wall in 1:59.15 to win the 200 breaststroke.
- Ian Horstkamp-Vinekar of NJIT won his second individual title of the night after finishing in a time of 1:47.50.
- The Retrievers captured first place in the 400 free relay with a time of 2:59.82.
