BOSTON – Conference play in women’s lacrosse began at the start of March with four teams starting their league slates with wins. No. 6/7 Stony Brook topped UMBC and went on to beat then No. 16/17 Towson on the road.
Bryar Hogg’s overtime tally gave UAlbany a win over New Hampshire. Several non-conference games are scheduled for mid-week with another full slate of league games on tap for this weekend.
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEWLAX this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Offensive Player of the Week
Ally Kennedy, Stony Brook – Gr., Midfield, North Babylon, N.Y.
- Kennedy had a seven-point week in two wins.
- She followed a four-goal game in the conference opener with two goals and an assist against Towson.
- Stony Brook’s win over the Tigers was its second win over a ranked opponent this season.
- This is Kennedy’s first Offensive Player of the Week award of the season and seventh of her career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Taylor Passuello, Binghamton – Gr., Goalkeeper, Oceanside, N.Y.
- Compiled a .529 save percentage in season-opening win over UMass Lowell.
- Passuello saved nine shots, allowing eight goals.
- Totaled a game-high five ground balls.
- This is the second career #AEWLAX honor and first of the season for Passuello.
Rookie of the Week
Jaden Hampel, Stony Brook – Fr., Midfield, West Islip, N.Y.
- Scored five goals to help the Seawolves to two wins.
- Hampel led the team in scoring against #16/17 Towson with a hat trick.
- She converted on five of her six shots on goal for the week.
- This is her second Rookie of the Week award.
