UAlbany, Stony Brook to put Win Streaks to the Test

BOSTON – UAlbany women’s lacrosse went 2-0 last week with wins over Hofstra and Binghamton. No. 5/6 Stony Brook, UMBC and Vermont also picked up wins in conference play.
 
The Seawolves and Great Danes will pit their unblemished conference records against each other on Saturday on Long Island. Both teams are 5-2 overall riding three-game winning streaks.
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEWLAX this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

#AEWLAX Weekly Award Winners – Mar. 15
Offensive Player of the Week
Courtney Renehan, UMBC – Sr., Midfielder, Mt. Airy, Md.
  • Scored a career-high seven goals against Hartford.
  • Renehan’s tallies came on eight shots and six were unassisted.
  • She scored three free position shots and also had four draw controls.
  • This is her first career Offensive Player of the Week award.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Sophie McLaughlin, Vermont – Jr., Goalkeeper, Keene, N.H.
  • Saved 80 percent of shots faced, making a career-high 16 saves against New Hampshire.
  • She allowed just four goals, the fewest by UVM in nearly two years.
  • McLaughlin was key in guiding Vermont to it’s second league win in as many games.
  • This is the first #AEWLAX honor of her career.
 
Rookie of the Week
Katie Pascale, UAlbany – Fr., Midfielder, Baldwinsville, N.Y.
  • Had an eight-point week on six goals and a pair of assists.
  • Led the Great Danes with four goals in the win over Binghamton.
  • Had a three-point game in the team’s first win of the week over Hofstra.
  • This is her second Rookie of the Week award.
