BOSTON – The game of lacrosse is back for the 2021 #AEWLAX season and Stony Brook picked up a win over Boston University last weekend.
The Seawolves started the season with the toughest possible challenge against the nation’s top team, North Carolina. The Seawolves are not far behind in the polls, checking in at #5 in the latest Inside Lacrosse and USILA rankings. The team will take on #15/16 USC tomorrow on AmericaEast.tv.
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEWLAX this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

Offensive Player of the Week
Siobhan Rafferty, Stony Brook – Sr., Midfield, Long Beach, N.Y.
- Totaled eight goals on ten shots in a pair of games.
- Went a perfect 5-for-5 on her shot attempts Sunday against Boston University.
- Her five goals matched a career-high.
- This is Rafferty’s first career Offensive Player of the Week nod.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kameron Halsall, Stony Brook – Jr., Goalkeeper, Caledon, Ontario
- Allowed four goals on seven shots to earn the win on Sunday over BU.
- Totaled six ground balls, including a team-high three on Sunday.
- Nine total saves on the week.
- This is Halsall’s first career #AEWLAX honor.
Rookie of the Week
Jaden Hampel, Stony Brook – Fr., Midfield, West Islip, N.Y.
- In her second collegiate game totaled five points.
- Hampel scored a hat trick to help the Seawolves to victory over BU.
- She converted on all three of her shots in the contest.
- This is her first Rookie of the Week award.
