America East is committed to providing student-athletes across the conference with impactful education, resources, and actionable takeaways related to civic engagement and voter education and registration.

Among the actions taken to promote civic engagement, all 10 America East institutions are participating in the America East Votes Challenge. READ MORE Additionally, the conference approved a recommendation from its Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to institute a conference-wide mandatory day off for all student-athletes on the day of the general election. America East was the first conference to collectively have its men’s and women’s basketball coaches commit to make Election Day a mandatory day off for its student-athletes. 

For nearly a decade, America East has been a leader within college athletics in raising awareness and providing education in the areas of diversity and inclusion through its Spread Respect initiative. In recent months, the conference has taken several actionable steps towards combating discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and religion, including forming a Spread Respect Advisory Committee to address systemic racial injustice and inequality and its direct impact on those within the conference.
