Marsha Florio has served as Executive Director of the America East Academic Consortium since January, 2018. The America East Academic Consortium (AEAC) is dedicated to facilitating inter-institutional academic and administrative collaboration between the conference’s nine universities
In her role, Florio will manage all aspects of the consortium and work directly with the conference’s member insititutions in the development, implementation and review of AEAC activities, makes programming recommendations to the Board of Presidents and reviews the AEAC budget.
Florio came to America East from UMass Boston where she served as Assistant Vice Provost for IT Business Operations and Senior Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Athletics, Recreation, Special Projects & Programs prior to that. In her roles, Florio oversaw budgets and strategic planning initiatives as well as organizational management, operations and professional development for the division.
Florio, a four-time All-American at Penn State in women’s lacrosse, started her career as a secondary teacher and has held numerous positions in educational leadership and school reform. From 2004-10, she was an Executive Director at the charter management company, EdisonLearning, supporting school districts across the country and also served as interim athletic director and Director of Human Resources and Administration at The Winsor School in Boston from 2010-2011. Her background includes over 20 years as an adjunct professor, school district/higher education administrator and consultant.
