#AEVB Week 4: New Hampshire Sweeps Clemson To Highlight #AEVB Action

BOSTON – New Hampshire took down an impressive pair of foes on the road while Binghamton also won 2 of 3 matches last weekend in #AEVB action.

Need to Know
  • New Hampshire started the week with a 3-1 victory over Furman and then took down Clemson in an impressive 3-0 sweep to conclude the day. It marked the 2nd time in the last three years they’ve beaten a Power 4 team.
  • Binghamton went 2-1 over the weekend to improve to 8-4, winning a 3-1 decision against Dartmouth and then beating Quinnipiac 3-2.
  • UMBC lost 3-2 at Villanova and then fell 3-0 to Temple on the road last weekend.
  • UAlbany battled hard in a 3-0 defeat to #10 Purdue and were swept by UCF.
  • Bryant beat Manhattan during the week and had a 2-0 lead on Rutgers but fell 3-2.
  • Conference play begins this weekend as UMBC plays road matches at UAlbany and Bryant. New Hampshire welcomes Binghamton and NJIT travels to Bryant on Friday.

Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 22
Player of the Week
Viktoria Dimitrova, Binghamton – Jr., Outside Hitter, Sofia, Bulgaria
  • Hit. 407 while averaging 4.25 kills and 0.75 blocks per set in a 2-1 weekend for Binghamton.
  • Went off for 22 kills and hit .500 with five digs and three blocks in a 3-2 victory over Quinnipiac.
  • This is Dimitrova’s third career #AEVB Player of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Hady Pickard, New Hampshire – Fr., Libero, Roswell, Ga.
  • Averaged 5.29 digs and 1.57 assists per set in a 3-1 win over Furman and 3-0 sweep of Clemson
  • Notched 16 digs in a four-set win over Furman and then 21 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Clemson.
  • This is Pickard’s second #AEVB Defensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Setter of the Week
Jessica Shattles, New Hampshire – Sr., Setter, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
  • Averaged 10.71 assists and 3.57 digs per set in a 3-1 win over Furman and 3-0 sweep of Clemson.
  • Recorded 30 assists and 15 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Clemson on Saturday.
  • This is Shattles’ first career #AEVB Setter of the Week honor.

Rookie of the Week
Natalie Harris, UMBC – Fr., Outside Hitter, Orlando, Fla.
  • Hit .226 while averaged 3.43 kills per set, 1.14 digs per set and 0.43 blocks per set last week.
  • Recorded 20 kills while hitting .319 with five digs, three blocks and three aces in a 3-2 loss to Villanova.
  • This is Harris’ second #AEVB Rookie of the Week honor.
