#AEMSOC Week 2: Bryant Wins Twice as Three Teams Stay Unbeaten

BOSTON – It was an impressive week as #AEMSOC programs combined to go 7-1-1 with 7 of 8 programs securing a result during the week.
 
Bryant led all programs with a 2-0 mark last week and is now 2-0-1 on the season, matching Vermont which is also 2-0-1. UMBC is also unbeaten at 2-0, with a contest scheduled for Monday night. Overall 6 of 8 programs own a record of .500 or better.
 
Need to Know:
  • The Bulldogs, who are receiving votes nationally, took down Rhode Island 1-0 on Tuesday and then shut out Lafayette 3-0 on Sunday.
  • No. 7 Vermont faced its toughest test on Friday, playing to a 2-2 draw with No. 18 Charlotte. The Catamounts never trailed in the contest.
  • New Hampshire won its second straight, 2-1, over St. John’s on Thursday, while UMass Lowell beat CCSU 2-1 as well.
  • On Friday, UMBC stayed perfect with a 5-1 victory over Presbyterian while NJIT shot past Manhattan 4-1.
  • UAlbany concluded the strong week with a 3-0 shutout of Colgate at home.
  • This coming week, UMBC hosts George Washington on Monday and then travels to Lehigh, while Vermont faces Holy Cross and Sacred Heart. Bryant looks to stay unbeaten against Colgate and Western Michigan.

Offensive Player of the Week
Abdul Kamara, UMBC – Jr., Midfield, Woodbridge, Va.
  • Scored twice in UMBC’s 5-1 victory over Presbyterian.
  • Helped UMBC to a 2-0 start to the season.
  • This is Kamara’s first career #AEMSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Ramon Camejo, Bryant – Jr., Goalkeeper, Monroe, N.J.
  • Earned the shutout victory in a 1-0 contest at Rhode Island.
  • Notched three saves and faced four shots in holding off the Rams.
  • This is Camejo’s first #AEMSOC Goalkeeper of the Week honor this year.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Santiago de Prado, Bryant – Jr., Defender, Vigo, Spain
  • Played over 170 minutes in a pair of shutouts as Bryant allowed just 10 total shots in two road games.
  • Notched one goal and one assist in a 3-0 win at Lafayette.
  • This is de Prado’s first career #AEMSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Yuta Kimata, UAlbany – Fr., Forward, Tokyo, Japan
  • Scored in the final minute of the first half to give UAlbany a 1-0 lead going into the break.
  • Finished with four shots in the contest and leads the Great Danes with two goals.
  • This is Kimata’s first #AEMSOC Rookie of the Week honor.

The America East is one of the best men’s soccer conferences in the country and home to the 024 national champions from Vermont. In 2024, the Catamounts led the nation in RPI and the America East finish fifth as a conference. It marked the league’s second straight top-six finish in RPI. Overall The conference has received multiple bids to the NCAA tournament in five of the past ten seasons. Five different teams have reached the third round of the NCAA tournament since 2014.
