#AEWLAX Week 11: Bulldogs and Catamounts Clinch Spot in Championship

BOSTON - The Catamounts and Bulldogs secured their spots in the #AEWLAX Championship with just one week remaining in the regular season.

  • Vermont handed UAlbany its first conference loss of the year, 14-4, to clinch an #AEWLAX Championship berth.
  • Bryant poured in 22 goals, including eight in the first 15 minutes, to take down UMBC, 22-6, and earn their spot in the #AEWLAX Championship. 
  • UMass Lowell rallied to take down New Hampshire, 15-12, for their second-straight league win.

Looking Ahead:

  • Heading in to the final regular season weekend the No. 1 seed in the #AEWLAX Championship is still up for grabs, along with the last spot in the four-team Championship.
  • A win by Vermont over UMass Lowell will give the Catamounts the top seed due to tiebreaks, while UAlbany would claim hosting rights if the River Hawks took down UVM.
  • The No. 1 Seed will have the honor of hosting both rounds of the 2026 #AEWLAX Championship. 
  • In league play on Saturday, UMass Lowell will host Vermont, New Hampshire will travel to UMBC, and Bryant and Binghamton will meet in Vestal, N.Y

#AEWLAX Weekly Award Winners – April 20
Offensive Player of the Week
Jane Trauger, Vermont – Jr., Attack, Voorhees, N.J.

  • Tied a program record with eight goals in the Catamounts win over UAlbany.
  • Added two assists to goal along with her eight goals for a career-high 10 points.
  • Caused one turnover in the 10-goal win.
  • This is Trauger's first #AEWLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor this season.
 

Defensive Player of the Week
Caroline Kagan, Vermont – Grad., Defense, Ipswich, Mass.

  • Recorded a career-high four caused turnovers against the Great Danes.
  • Collected one ground ball in the contest.
  • This is Kagan's first #AEWLAX Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.


Goalkeeper of the Week
Ayla Shea, Vermont – Jr., Goalkeeper, Fairfax, Vt.

  • Made 14 saves, posting a .778 save percentage in the win over UAlbany.
  • Caused a turnover and picked up three groundballs in the victory.
  • This is Shea's fourth #AEWLAX Goalkeeper of the Week honor of the season.
 

Co-Rookie of the Week
Brienne Brezynskie, UMass Lowell – Fr., Midfield, Elmira, Ontario

  • Recorded five goals on the week, including four in the win over New Hampshire
  • Added an assist in both of her outings.
  • This is Brezynskie's second #AEWLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
 

Co-Rookie of the Week
Julia Girard, Bryant – Fr., Attack, Montgomery Village, Md

  • Recorded a Bryant program record 17 draw controls in win over UMBC to secure a championship berth.
  • The 17 draws is tied for the third most in #AEWLAX this year.
  • This is Girard's first #AEWLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
