BOSTON – It was a dominant night for home teams Thursday night as they went 3-1 in women’s #AEHoops action, including UAlbany’s comeback win over Bryant. NJIT battled it out to take down Maine. Binghamton and UMBC also picked up victories.
at NJIT 61, Maine 56 – Box Score
An 8-2 start to begin the fourth quarter secured the win for the Highlanders, who have won two of their last three contests. It was a tight game for both teams featuring four ties in the first half before NJIT was able to pull away. Junior Alejandra Zuniga had 26 points while NJIT shot 45.1% from the field in the victory. The Black Bears were led by Caroline Bornemann’s 22 points.
Binghamton 65, at UMass Lowell 52 – Box Score
Binghamton came out strong, taking a 22-11 lead after one period. The Bearcats were led by Kaia Goode who netted a game-high 16 points. The River Hawks fought to within five in the third period before Binghamton went on a 9-2 run. With the win, Binghamton snaps a five-game losing streak and hopes to continue Saturday at Bryant.
at UAlbany 48, Bryant 43 – Box Score
Bryant jumped out to a 25-16 lead in the first half but the Great Danes came out in the second half unstoppable. Kayla Cooper went on a six-point run while the team held Bryant to two points in the third. The second half comeback gives UAlbany their ninth win of the season and third in a row.
at UMBC 51, New Hampshire 32 – Box Score
A dominant defensive effort helped UMBC secure their fourth conference win of the season. The Retrievers held New Hampshire to four points in the first and third quarters while forcing 25 turnovers and tallying five blocks. Jordon Lewis led the offense for UMBC with 15 points, nine rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. The Retrievers host Maine on Saturday.
