Eight Student-Athletes Named NFHCA All-Region

BOSTON – Following a strong season, eight student-athletes from four different schools were named All-Region by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Wednesday afternoon. 
 
Three players were named first-team with five on the second team. New Hampshire had league-best four honorees, followed by Vermont and UAlbany with two apiece.
 
New Hampshire’s Tasmin Cookman earned first-team honors for the fourth straight season, while teammate Nicole Poulakis secured her first, first-team selection and third all-region honor overall. Poulakis’ 60 goals and 131 assists are both ranked 8th all-time in league history. Cookman’s 51 goals are tied for 14th all-time and her 135 assists are 13th in conference history.
 
Vermont’s Sophia Lefranc also secured first-team honors for the first time in her career after a pair of second honors the previous two seasons after being named the Midfielder of the Year and helping the Catamounts to their first-ever regular season title.
 
New Hampshire had a pair of second-team selections in Kathelijne Knuttel and Faye Maijer. UAlbany’s Pilar Lorenzini and Sophia Schoonmaker were also named to the second team, along with Vermont’s Merle Vaandrager.
