Women's Soccer 9/20/2021 10:55:02 AM Five Teams Earn Wins to Open #AEWSOC League Play BOSTON – Conference play for all 10 of America East’s women’s soccer teams got underway over the weekend. Binghamton, Hartford, UMBC, UMass Lowell and Stony Brook all posted wins to get off to 1-0 starts. Each team will play a nine-game schedule in the single round robin format. The top six teams in the conference standings based on points percentage will be qualify for the 2021 America East women’s soccer championship. Scored in each of Binghamton’s games last week to lead the Bearcats to two victories. Had the game winner in both wins, over Cornell on Thursday and vs. Vermont in double overtime on Sunday. This is Ananad’s second career Offensive Player of the Week and second of the season (Aug. 30). Defensive Player of the Week Lauren Reid, UMBC – Fr., Defender, Denver, Colo. Led a back line that didn’t surrender a goal in two shutout wins. Helped hold Wagner off the scoreboard on and Maine on Sunday. This is her first career Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week award. Rookie of the Week Ioanna Papatheodorou, UMass Lowell – Fr., Forward, Nea Erithraia, Greece Scored the game-winning goal in UMass Lowell’s 2-1 win over NJIT on Sunday, the conference opener for both teams.
