UNH, Vermont Share #AEMSOC Regular-Season Title; Championship Set to Start
New Hampshire and Vermont are 2019 #AEMSOC co-regular-season champions after the two teams played to a 1-1 tie on Wednesday, the final day of the regular season. The Wildcats will be the #1 seed for the championship per conference tiebreaking procedures after finishing with a slightly better goal differential in conference games (+12) than Vermont (+11).
The final seeds for the 2019 America East Men’s Soccer Championship are:
1. New Hampshire
2. Vermont
3. Hartford
4. UAlbany
5. UMass Lowell
6. Binghamton
The Wildcats, the 18th-ranked team in the country, earned their first regular-season title since 2009 and just their third in program history by tying Vermont. UNH will host the winner of #4 UAlbany and #5 UMass Lowell in a semifinal contest on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., which will air on ESPN+.
The Catamounts are regular-season champions for the second time in three seasons after going 4-0-1 down the stretch. Vermont will host the winner of #3 Hartford and #6 Binghamton in a semifinal contest Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m., which will air on AmericaEast.TV.
Hartford scored twice in the final 10 minutes to beat UMass Lowell, 3-2, and earned the #3 seed, its best seed since 2014. The Hawks host #6 Binghamton in quarterfinal action on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m., which will air on AmericaEast.TV.
UAlbany earned the #4 seed despite a 1-0 loss to Binghamton and will host #5 UMass Lowell in a quarterfinal contest Saturday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m., which will air on AmericaEast.TV.
The semifinal winners will face off for the 2019 conference title at the higher remaining seed on either Saturday, Nov. 16 or Sunday, Nov. 17. The championship game will air on ESPN+.
