30-Point Performances Ring in New #AEHoops Season
BOSTON – Basketball season tipped off last week and impressive performances made for a captivating opening week. Three players scored more than 30 points in a game, all setting career-highs. UAlbany senior Alexi Schecter notched a 31-point double-double to lead the Great Danes to an overtime victory against Columbia. Blanca Millan poured in 37 in a road win at Delaware to get Maine off to a 1-0 start and Kai Moon set new a career-high twice, leading Binghamton to a 2-0 start.
Stony Brook also began the season 2-0 with wins over Manhattan and Siena. UMBC and New Hampshire were able to find the win column in their opening weeks.

Here are the conference’s first women’s basketball weekly awards of the 2019-20 season:
Co-Player of the Week
Kai Moon, Binghamton – Sr., Guard, Chicago, Ill.
- Averaged 32.5 points per game, making over 52 percent of her three-pointers in 2-0 opening week for Binghamton.
- Moon set a new her career-high for points in a game twice last week, lastly with 36 in the home opener against Lafayette.
- This is her first career #AEHoops Player of the Week award.
Co-Player of the Week
Blanca Millan, Maine – Sr., Guard, Santiago de Compostela, Spain
- Scored a career-high 37 points in Maine’s win over CAA preseason #4 Delaware.
- Millan shot 58 percent and made a career-high 13 of 15 free throws while also grabbing four rebounds.
- Millan has been named Player of the Week eight times in her career.
Rookie of the Week
Emma Utterback, Vermont – Fr., Guard, Greenwood, Indiana
- Averaged 13.6 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field and 57 percent from long distance.
- Her 19 points against Loyola Chicago were the most in a single game by a UVM freshman since 2016.
- This is her first career #AEHoops weekly award.
