Vermont's 2-0 Start, Lutete's Record Performance Highlight #AEHoops Week #1
BOSTON – The 2019-20 America East men’s basketball season got underway last week and saw six programs earn their first wins of the new campaign. Vermont kicked off the year with a pair of impressive road wins at St. Bonaventure and Bucknell. UMBC picked up a victory at Florida Gulf Coast while Hartford, Maine, UMass Lowell and New Hampshire also won games.
Opening week also resulted in several impressive individual performances. UMass Lowell’s Christian Lutete scored a program-record 51 points in a win over LIU on Friday, the most by an #AEHoops player in over 25 years and second-most all time. Andrew Fleming had 37 points and 10 rebounds in Maine’s win over Merrimack while Nick Guadaramma led UNH to its first win with a 28-point effort.

Player of the Week
Christian Lutete, UMass Lowell – Sr., Guard, Silver Spring, Md.
- Scored a UMass Lowell-record 51 points in a win at LIU on Friday.
- The 51 points were the second most in league history and most since Eddie Benton scored a conference-record 54 for Vermont in 1994.
- Averaged a double-double of 25.7 points and 10.3 rebounds in three games last week.
- This is Lutete’s fourth career #AEHoops Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
P.J. Henry, Hartford – Fr., Guard, Houston, Texas
- Averaged 9.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists in his first two games as a collegian.
- Had 10 points and four assists to help Hartford down Central Conn. State on Tuesday in its season opener.
- This is Henry’s first career #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
