UNH Claims Four #AEMSOC Major Awards to Highlight 2019 Selections

America East men's soccer co-regular-season champions New Hampshire and Vermont combined to earn five major awards for their performances during the 2019 regular season. Three standouts from co-regular-season champion UNH and one from the other co-regular-season champion, Vermont earned four of this year’s honors. Additionally, UNH's coaching staff took home Coaching Staff of the Year honors after earning the top seed for the championship. UAlbany took home the final individual award.
 
The major award winners were determined in a vote by the league's eight head coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
 
2019 #AEWSOC Major Award Winners
Striker of the Year
Austin DaSilva, So., Forward, UAlbany
  • League leader in points (25), goals (12) and game-winning goals (6).
  • Third Great Dane to ever earn Striker of the Year honors
  • His six game-winning goals are tied for the most in the country.
  • Earned #AEMSOC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 14.
Midfielder of the Year
Antonio Colacci, Sr., Midfielder, New Hampshire
  • League leader in assists (9).
  • Third in points (21) and tied for fourth in goals (6).
  • It’s the third time a Wildcat has earned Midfielder of the Year honors.
  • Earned #AEMSOC Offensive Player of the Week honors twice this season.
Defender of the Year
Josh Bauer, Jr., Defender, New Hampshire
  • Third-ever repeat winner of the award.
  • Anchors a back line that has allowed just seven goals all year, the third fewest in the country.
  • Contributed 11 points on three goals and five points this year.
  • Earned #AEMSOC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 21.
Goalkeeper of the Year
Alejandro Robles, Sr., Goalkeeper, New Hampshire
  • Leads the league in goals against average (0.42) and save percentage (.818).
  • Allowed just six goals all year and posted six individual shutouts.
  • It’s the seventh time a Wildcat has earned the award, the most for any school in league history.
  • Earned #AEMSOC Defensive Player of the Week honors once this year.
Rookie of the Year
Rasmus Tobinski, Fr., Forward, Vermont
  • Unanimous selection for the award.
  • Second in the league in goals (10) and points (22).
  • First Catamount to earn the award since 2013.
  • Earned a league-best five Rookie of the Week honors and was named Offensive Player of the Week once.
Coaching Staff of the Year
New Hampshire
  • Led by head coach Marc Hubbard, the Wildcats went 12-1-3 in the regular season and peaked at #13 in the national rankings.
  • Second time in three years the Wildcats have earned the award.
  • Earned a share of the regular-season title, the program’s first since 2009 and third all-time.
  • Hubbard is assisted by Rich Weinrebe, Nick Thompson, Dave Williams and Brad Campion.
The 2019 All-Conference, All-Rookie and All-Academic teams were previously announced on Nov. 8 with 38 players receiving recognition (Release). View the complete award winners listing.
