CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Boston University senior Danielle Etrasco set a school record to earn America East women’s lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday. Albany junior Kathleen Lennon was named Defensive Player of the Week and freshman Rachel Bowles was named Rookie of the Week.

Etrasco (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned Offensive Player of the Week after scoring eight goals and dishing out four assists to total a school record 12 points in Boston University’s 16-11 upset win over No. 15/RV Ohio State.  The eight goals were the most for an America East player this season while the 12 points is the second-highest total, just one behind the NCAA record set by Stony Brook’s Claire Petersen last week. Etrasco also had a career high 13 draw controls to go with two ground balls and three caused turnovers to help Boston U. to its second win over a ranked opponent this season.

Lennon (Sea Cliff, N.Y.) was named Defensive Player of the Week after dominating the draw circle, recording 23 draw controls over three games for the Great Danes and helping the team to a 2-1 record. Lennon tied her career-high with 12 draw controls against George Mason in a 17-5 victory, also adding a ground ball and a caused turnover. To open the week, the junior had eight ground balls, five draw controls and a career-best seven caused turnovers in a 19-1 win over Manhattan. She finished the week with 10 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. She leads the conference with 51 draw controls, which is already fourth on Albany’s single season list.

Bowles (Cicero, N.Y.) was named Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, scoring 12 goals in a 2-1 week for Albany. Bowles has scored in each of her first seven collegiate games, scoring three goals against Manhattan, a career-best five against George Mason, and then four in a loss at Cornell. The freshman leads Albany with 21 goals on the year and had a .571 shooting percentage for the week.
