CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - A pair of goaltenders that led their teams to wins are this week's America East men's lacrosse weekly award winners as UMBC's Adam Cohen and Stony Brook University's Dan Shaughnessy picked up the league's Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively. The recipients for the week ending Feb. 24 were announced Monday afternoon.

Cohen (Arnold, Md.) stopped 13 of the 20 shots he faced in leading UMBC to an 11-7 win over Rutgers on Saturday en route to earning his second career America East Player of the Week honor. The senior goalkeeper, whose 13 stops were one shy of his career high, made 12 of those saves over the final three quarters enabling the Retrievers to outscore Rutgers 11-5 after falling down 2-0.

Shaughnessy (Sudbury, Mass.) averaged 14 saves as the Seawolves went 1-1 last week on way to picking up his first career Rookie of the Week award. The freshman goalkeeper made nine stops in a 12-10 win at Lafayette on Tuesday, before stopping a career-best 19 shots in a 13-7 loss to No. 3 Virginia Saturday. Shaughnessy, who had a .545 save percentage for the week, kept Stony Brook in contention vs. the Cavaliers as it trailed by just one late in the third quarter.

One week after debuting in the national polls at No. 16, University at Albany fell three spots to 19th in the USILA Coaches' Poll and four spots to 20th in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll following its 20-19 loss at Drexel Saturday. Elsewhere this weekend, Siena edged Binghamton, 9-8, Holy Cross downed Hartford, 11-9 and Providence upended Vermont, 13-5.
