CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Stony Brook completed a 2-0 weekend in America East volleyball conference play, including handing Albany its first home conference loss in two year, helping the Seawolves sweep conference weekly honors for the week ending Oct. 28. Freshman Melissa Rigo earned America East Player and Rookie of the Week, while Nicole Vogel was named Setter of the Week.

Rigo and Vogel were key in helping Stony Brook to road wins over Albany and Hartford. The Seawolves  beat the Great Danes for the first time in exactly five years, while also handing Albany their first conference loss in over a year, and first home conference loss in more than two years.

Rigo (East Northport, N.Y.) earned America East Player of the Week for the second time this season, and Rookie of the Week for the fifth time after leading the conference in kills per set (4.88) and ranking second in hitting percentage (.287). She posted her 10th double-double of the season in Stony Brook's upset of first-place Albany, recording 14 kills and 13 digs. She went on to notch a career-high 25 kills on just 42 swings- good for a career-best .452 hitting percentage- in a four-set win over Hartford. Rigo also averaged 2.75 digs per set and five blocks over the weekend.

Vogel (Costa Mesa, Calif.) earned her first America East Setter of the Week honor after leading the conference in assists per set (11.50) and helping the Seawolves to a conference-best .238 hitting percentage. She began the weekend with 42 assists, 10 digs and four blocks to notch her seventh double-double of the season in a win over Albany. She then had a career-high 50 assists and helped the team to a .300 hitting percentage at Hartford while also recording nine digs and two blocks. Twice she posted 15-assist sets vs. the Hawks. It was the fifth and sixth times this season Vogel has posted 40+ assists, and the third time this season she's led SB to a .300 hitting percentage or better.

Notes
Albany's home loss to Stony Brook on Friday night was the team's first America East loss since falling at New Hampshire on October 16, 2011, and first home conference loss since losing to Binghamton on October 22, 2010... The second and fifth-place teams are separated by just 1.5 games with two weekends remaining in the regular-season... Rigo leads the conference in kills per set at 4.35 kills per set. The last time a rookie led the conference in kills per set was Maine's Leah Voss in 2000.
