The Bearcats (3-11, 2-3 America East) downed Hartford (2-11, 1-4) 11-9 in a battle for the fourth and final bid at Bearcats Sports Complex. Jake Boyce and Steve Carlson each scored twice for Binghamton, which will face top-seeded UMBC (12-3, 4-1) for the second straight year in the semis after nearly upsetting the Retrievers before falling in overtime in 2008.
The Retrievers, who have earned at least a share of the last five regular-season titles, bounced back from their loss at Hartford with an 18-5 trouncing over Vermont (4-10, 1-4) at UMBC Stadium to earn the No. 1 seed for the second straight year.
The Seawolves (8-5, 4-1) edged Albany (7-6, 3-2) 13-12 at LaValle Stadium to capture a share of the regular-season crown and earn the tournament's No. 2 seed. SBU, which achieved its best seed since 2006, will host the No. 3 Great Danes again Wednesday in the other semifinal at 7 p.m.
