CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Junior forward Cameron Keith of Binghamton was named America East Player of the Week for the second-straight week. Keith shared the honor with goalkeeper Steward Ceus of Albany. B.J. Quigley of UMBC was named Rookie of the Week. CLICK HERE FOR COMPLETE RELEASE.

Keith (Aberdeenshire, Scotland/Aberdeenshire University) repeats as America East Player of the Week after his two-goal performance vs. Boston University. Keith was the difference in the match between the preseason #1 and #2 choices. He scored in the 33rd minute to tie the game, 1-1, then added the game-winner with 16 seconds left in the first overtime. Keith has five goals in his last two games.

Ceus (West Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) made nine saves and recorded his first shutout of the season in Albany’s 1-0 double-overtime win at Vermont Saturday.

Quigley (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) had a goal in each game this week as the Retrievers were 2-0. He scored the game’s second goal in a 3-0 decision at Mount St. Mary’s Tuesday and completed the scoring in a 4-0 decision over Stony Brook on Saturday.

TEAM NOTES
Albany Great Danes

UAlbany (2-7-1, 1-0-0 America East) went 1-0 in its only game last week... The Great Danes defeated Vermont, 1-0, in double overtime on Saturday, Oct. 6... The win snapped an eight game winless streak dating back to the season-opening victory against Adelphi on Aug. 31... Head coach Johan Aarnio earned his 100th career coaching victory with the win... Aarnio improves his overall record to 100-77-21 in 13 combined years at RPI and UAlbany, including a 59-61-16 record in eight seasons at UAlbany... The Great Danes scored the game-winning goal in the 107th minute courtesy of an own goal... Freshman Ian Peach (South Hempstead, N.Y./South Side) served a shot parallel to the goal line and a Vermont defender knocked the ball into the goal as he was sliding to keep it out... Junior goalkeeper Steward Ceus (West Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) registered nine saves in the match to earn his first shutout of the season for the Great Danes... UAlbany returns to action at home on Saturday, Oct. 13 against New Hampshire at 1 p.m.

Binghamton Bearcats
Binghamton (8-2-0, 1-0-0 AE) has won its past three games, having outscored its opponents 7-2 in the process ... sophomore forward Cameron Keith (Aberdeenshire, Scotland)has scored five times in the past two goals, inluding twice in Binghamton's 2-1 win over Boston on Saturday night. Keith scored the game winner with 16 seconds left in the first sudden-death overtime period. He was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on Oct. 9 ... Binghamton has averaged 1,822 fans in its first two games at the Bearcats Sports Complex ... the Bearcats are currently receiving votes in the College Soccer News Top 30 Weekly Poll.

Boston University
Boston University (5-5-0 overall, 0-1-0 America East) split its games last week, defeating then-No. 15 Brown, 1-0, on Tuesday, Oct. 2 and losing to Binghamton, 2-1, in overtime on Saturday, Oct. 6... Brown had been one of the four undefeated teams left in the nation... Freshman Aaron O’Neal (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) and sophomore Shaun Taylor (Sandown, England/Sandown) combined on both goals for the week for the Terriers... Against Brown, O’Neal posted the third goal of his career, receiving a pass from Taylor, beating his defender and sending a shot low right past a diving Brown keeper... Two of O’Neal’s three goals have been game-winners... In the loss to the Bearcats, Taylor redirected an O’Neal pass past the Binghamton goalie for his second career goal... Six of the nine contests against Binghamton have needed at least one extra period, and in two of the last four meetings, Binghamton has downed BU in penalty kicks in the America East tournament... Sophomore goalie Hrafn Davidsson (Reykjavik, Iceland/Univ. of Iceland) is tied for 24th in the nation in saves, averaging 5.2 per game... The Terriers return home after a four-game road swing to host America East foe Maine on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. and Big Ten opponent Penn State on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m.

Hartford Hawks

Hartford (5-3-1, 0-0-0 America East) dropped a pair of non-conference games last week in its final tune-ups before opening conference play this week. The Hawks will play a pair of conference games, opening at Stony Brook on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and hosting Binghamton on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at Al Marzook Field. The Hawks only goal of the week came from Andreas Blamo (Monrovia, Liberia/Hall/Manchester CC). Blamo scored on a shot that deflected off of Huskies keeper John Ford in the 37th minute, taking a one-goal deficit into the locker room at the break. UConn took its lead with a pair of goals that were 25 seconds apart and would never look back. The Huskies scored one more in the second half to guarantee the victory. Hartford then hosted UMass to close out the week, dropping a 1-0 decision. Hartford Allowed the Minutemen to score in the 10th minute and that goal would hold up for the victory. Entering conference play, the Hawks are led by Blamo, who has scored four goals. He is followed by Gary Muir (Glasgow, Scotland/Louisburg) with three goals. Matt Glaeser (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe/James Madison) has played every minute in goal for the Hawks. For the season he has allowed 11 goals, just over a one per-game average, and made 35 saves for a .761 save percentage.

Maine Black Bears

Maine (2-7-1, 0-0-1 America East) battled to a 1-1 double overtime draw with the University of New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon in Orono, Maine... It was just the second overtime game for the Black Bears this season... Maine opened the season with a 1-0 victory over UMass in overtime... New Hampshire scored an early goal at 17:08... The Black Bears tied the game at 41:40 when Kiaran McCormack (Dundlak, Ireland/Univ. of Vermont) scored off an in direct kick... For McCormack, a defender, it was his first career goal... Sophomore Philip Reed (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) picked up an assist on the goal... Maine keeper Nemanja Kostic (New Belgrade, Serbia/Virginia Intermont) made four saves in the game for the Black Bears... Maine is unbeaten at home this season with a record of 2-0-1 at Alumni Field in Orono... Just seven players tallied points for Maine during the 2006 season... Thus far this year, nine different Black Bears have recorded at least one point... The Black Bears hit the road for a pair of games this week... Maine travels to Boston University on Wednesday, before traveling to Baltimore, Md., to face UMBC on Saturday, Oct. 13.

UMBC Retrievers
After scoring just two goals in a six-game span, UMBC (5-3-2, 1-0-0 America East) mustered seven in two games this week with a 3-0 win over Mount St. Mary’s and a 4-0 victory over Stony Brook... sophomore forward Andrew Gillis (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) scored two goals vs. the Mount and had a goal and an assist vs. Stony Brook...Gillis’ first goal in the 49th minute vs. the Mountaineers broke a span of 341 minutes where the Retrievers had failed to score... the two-goal game is the second of Gillis’ career, as he scored twice in the 2006 season finale vs. Hartford... he scored in the 60th minute to give UMBC a 2-0 lead over the Seawolves and set up Shondell Busby (Toronto, Ont./Dante Aligery) for the game’s third goal five minutes later... in eight career America East Conference games, he has four goals and an assist... he has four goals on the season and is the young team's leading active career goal scorer with seven... freshman forward B.J. Quigley (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) scored a goal in each victory this week... after being re-inserted into the starting lineup, he tallied the game’s second goal in the 3-0 win over Mount St. Mary’s and the game’s final goal in the 89th minute vs. Stony Brook... sophomore midfielder/defender Matt Ward (Glen Arm, Md./Archbishop Curley) had two assists in the win over Mount St. Mary’s and is the first Retriever to post multiple assists in a game since Matt Watson had two vs. the same Mountaineer squad in 2005... freshman midfielder Levi Houapeu (Germantown, Md./Watkins Mill) scored the game’s first goal vs. the Seawolves in the 34th minute... the Retrievers are now 11-2-4 at UMBC Soccer Stadium in America East play... Gillis, who scored three goals in his freshman season, now has four on the year and is UMBC’s active goal-scoring leader with seven... the Retriever defense and junior goalkeeper Steve King (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) kept the high-scoring Seawolves off the board and UMBC recorded its sixth shutout of the season... King now has 14 career shutouts and has moved into third place in school history... Stony Brook entered the game as the top-scoring team in the league with 1.78 goals per game... they snapped a three-game losing streak to Stony Brook and evened the all-time series at 3-3... the Retrievers face defending league champion Binghamton in Vestal, N.Y. on Wednesday night.

New Hampshire Wildcats
New Hampshire (3-3-4, 0-0-1 America East) defeated intrastate rival Dartmouth, 1-0, on Wednesday evening ... Sophomore forward Chris Banks (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) notched the his first goal of the season to lift the Wildcats past the Big Green, who are ranked 8th in the northeast (NSCAA/Addidas) ... A.J. DuBois (Acworth, N.H./Fall Mountain Academy) made a great pass to Banks, earning the assist ... The Wildcats then opened-up conference action on Saturday at Maine ... Freshman Dylan George (Bangor, Maine/Bridgton Academy) made his return to the area exciting as he tallied his first collegiate goal to get the scoring started at Maine ... Mike Davis (Tigard, Ore./ ) earned his second assist of the season on the play ... The Wildcats four game shutout streak came to a halt when the Black Bears evened the score, which ended in a 1-1 tie ... The streak spanned 459 minutes, one second and was started on Sept. 9 ... Mike Jenne (Vernon, N.Y./Whitesboro Central) played both games this week for the Wildcats, making three saves ... The Wildcats return to action when they host Vermont on Wednesday afternoon in the first conference home game of the season.

Stony Brook Seawolves

Stony Brook (6-4-1, 0-1-0 America East) went 0-1-1 in games last week. It’s just the second time this season, Stony Brook has not won at least one game during a week. In the Seawolves’ 1-1 tie at Maryland, Mahamadou Simpara (Bamako, Mali/Bryant & Stratton) scored in the 60th minute to tie the score. Stony Brook opened up America East play at UMBC and fell to the Retrievers, 4-0. Simpara and Michele Aquino (Franklin Square, N.Y./Carey) were the lone players to record a shot on goal. Stony Brook is back home to host Hartford on October 10 and Vermont on October 13. Both matches are scheduled for 7 pm.

Vermont Catamounts

Vermont (3-8-0, 0-1-0 America East) fell to Albany, 1-0, in double overtime in its conference opener Saturday ... Vermont out shot the Great Danes, 17-5, after halftime but could not get the ball into the net ... Albany picked up the game-winner on an own goal with just 3:36 left in the second extra session ... UVM has now lost four straight, all by 1-0 results ... The Catamounts have been shut out six times in 11 games after being blanked only five times in 18 matches a year ago ... Goalkeeper Roger Scully (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) has a 0.99 goals against average and a .786 save percentage in nine games ... Vermont is back on the road traveling to New Hampshire Wednesday and Stony Brook Saturday ... UNH’s Lewis Field has been the ?friendly confines’ for the Catamounts this season. Vermont won two of its three games this season at New Hampshire’s Nike Fall Soccer Classic on September 14-16.
