Tainsh is in his 16th year at America East and was promoted to Senior Associate Commissioner, Content Strategy in July, 2020. He joined the conference staff in 2007 as Director of Communications.
In his role, Tainsh oversees the conference's content team, which promotes the league’s brand messaging by developing unique content for distribution across several platforms, including the conference website, digital network and social media channels. He manages the league's communications strategy and is the conference's primary spokesman and release writer.
In addition to his content team and communications duties, Tainsh oversees several partnerships, including the conference's website and digital network contracts and other vendors. He also directly oversees select sports, serving as the primary liaison to coaches and administering conference championships. As a member of Commissioner Amy Huchthausen's management team, he advises on key decisions related to strategic planning, budget and overall conference operations.
Tainsh arrived at America East from Simmons College where he had served as Sports Information Director for 14 months. He oversaw all external relations there, including media relations, marketing and promotions for the athletic department. Prior to that, Tainsh worked as Athletic Media Relations Assistant at conference-member University at Albany for the 2005-06 academic year.
A 2005 graduate from Ithaca College as a sports information and communications major and a journalism minor, Tainsh received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from his alma mater in 2011. A native of Barrington, R.I., he now resides in Danvers, Mass. with his wife, Lindsey, and two young children.
