America East Recognizes Mental Health Month with AE SAACcares Challenge

May is Mental Health Month. In recognition of that and to bring awareness to the importance of mental health, the America East Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is participating in the AE SAACcares Challenge throughout the month.

As part of the AE SAACcares Challenge, student-athletes will be participating in different forms of self care and posting their photos to Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #AEThinksHealthy.

What is self-care?

The goals of self-care are to find a state of good mental and physical health, reduce stress, meet emotional needs, maintain one's relationships, and find a balance between personal and academic or athletic life.

Why does this matter?

America East SAAC is committed to championing self-care and breaking the stigma around mental health.

Student-athletes work hard both academically and athletically and they cannot forget to recharge our minds and bodies with self-care.

Did you know that 1 in 5 Americans will be affected by a mental health condition in their lifetime and every American is affected or impacted through their friends and family? Take action today to help others as we fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for equal care.

Check back here for more throughout the month of May.
