The University of New Hampshire and University at Albany each ranked in the top 100 of the final 2014-15 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, the organization announced Thursday. In total, six America East schools were ranked.
UNH finished 78th overall powered by its football team reaching the FCS semifinals and a pair of track & field All-Americans while Albany was 86th riding its field hockey team's Final Four berth and a quarterfinal apperance by its men's lacrosse team.
America East is one of just five non-FBS conferences with multiple schools ranked in the top 100 joining the Big East Conference, Ivy League, Summit League and West Coast Conference.
Stony Brook University and UMBC each also appeared in the top 150 of the rankings, tying for 146th. The Seawolves had NCAA tournament victories in women's lacrosse and baseball while the Retrievers' men's soccer team made a run all the way to the College Cup, reaching the national semifinals.
University of Vermont (182), which earned points in skiing, and Binghamton University (195), which made its first NCAA appearance in softball, rounded out the America East teams that appeared in the rankings.
The Learfield Sports Directors Cup honors institutions which maintain a broad-based program and achieve success in many sports, both men's and women's.
