Women’s Tennis Notes
- The Albany Great Danes fell in a close contest to the Richmond Spiders, four sets to three. With the loss, the Purple and Gold fall to 4-5 on the season.
- The Bearcats of Binghamton took on Marist at the Binghamton Tennis Center and defeated the Red Foxes, 5-2. The key to the Black and Green victory was the winning of five of the six singles matches: Katherine Medianik (6-4, 3-6, 12-10), Sara Kohtz (6-0, 6-2), Shea Brodsky (6-1, 6-3), Annie DiMuro (6-0, 6-1), and Agatha Ambrozy (6-1, 6-1) were the victors. Kohtz added another victory, taking her doubles match with DiMuro, 6-3.
- Hartford fell at the hands of Villanova 7-0. The Hawks failed to capture a match; the closest to reach that achievement was Emily Sneddon, who lost in three sets to her singles opponent 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 6-2.
- Ranked 53rd in the nation by the ITA, the Stony Brook Seawolves continued their success, improving to 7-1 on the year with a 5-2 win over St. John’s. The Red Storm managed to take the doubles point, the only victor for SBU being the duo of Kristina Vozniak and Elizabeth Tsvetkov (6-5). The Stony Brook Seawolves were able to capture the team win via their control on the one-on-one matches: Polina Movchan (3-6, 6-3, 6-1), Vozniak (6-4, 7-5), Nadia Smergut (6-0, 6-0), Tsvetkov (6-1, 6-0), and Louise Badocher (6-4, 6-7, 10-2).
- Drexel got the best of NJIT earlier this week, dispatching the Highlanders with ease in five straight sets. The closest match of the day was out together by junior Ines Vujkovac. She put in a good enough fight to win the first set 6-2, before falling ins the last two 7-6 (5), and 10-7.
- NJIT fell in its second contest of this past week, this time to UNC Charlotte. The 49ers won every match that took place on the court. Carolina Zanotta put together the best effort for the Highlanders, losing in her No. 1 singles match 7-6 (3), 6-1.
