Skyler Schaar Earns #AETEN Player of the Week Honors

BOSTON, MASS. – Five America East schools took to the court of the past week.  Albany travelled to Chestnut Hills to take on the Boston College Eagles, Binghamton went up against the Boston University Terriers in Boston, Mass., Hartford hosted in state-rival Sacred Heart, UMBC made the trip to West Virginia, and NJIT made their way to the home of the Scarlet Night of Rutgers.  Here is the America East Tennis Player of the Week:

Player of the Week
Skyler Schaar, Hartford, Freshman, Fallbrook, California

  • Skyler Schaar won her number three singles match against the Pioneers of Sacred Heart 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.  She was the lone Hawk to pick up a point on the day as Hartford fell 1-6.
  • Schaar’s win in her singles match was the only one-on-one win by an America East player this week.

Women’s Tennis Notes 

  • The University at Albany travelled to Chestnut Hill, Mass. And took on the Eagles of Boston College.  Alba Sala and Ana Glumar were able to muster up the Great Danes only win in the number two doubles match, 6-4.  With the loss, Albany fell to 3-4 on the season thus far.
  • Another America East school ventured into the greater Boston area; Binghamton took on Boston University, and fell to the Terriers 7-0.  With the defeat, the Bearcats’s record in dual matches stands at 4-3.
  • On their home court, the Hartford Hawks fell to the Sacred Heart Pioneers 1-6.  The lone victory for the Hawks came from Freshman Skyler Schaar; the California native won her number three singles match 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
  • The UMBC Retrievers travelled to Morgantown, West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers.  WVU took down UMBC in easy fashion, 7-0.  The Retrievers fell to 2-5 this season with the loss.
  • In East Brunswick, N.J., Rutgers dropped NJIT in controllable fashion, 7-0.  Highlanders now hold a record of 1-6 record this season.
