Day 1 - Trip to Binghamton
We took our first journey on the #AERoadTrip to Binghamton - about a 5 hour drive from Boston heading west from the Mass Pike to I-88. On the way we make our normal stop at Subway just before getting on I-88 with few places to stop before reaching Vestal, N.Y. and the Binghamton University campus.
Once arriving on campus, we had the pleasure of interviewing head men's basketball coach Tommy Dempsey along with players Jordan Reed and Marlon Beck II. Jordan and Marlon were very entertaining, and we even learned that Jordan is looking for a career in fashion if basketball doesn't work out.
We also spoke with first year head women's basketball coach Linda Cimino and sophomore Kristin Ross. Senior Gintare Surdokaite (or "G" has most of her friends and teammates call her) took us on a tour of the Events Center where the 2014-15 Women's Basketball Championship will be held.
Finally, we got to speak with the Co-Presidents of the BU Zoo - a student fan group on campus that has been reignited over the past couple years. After finishing up on campus, we filmed our first "America Eats" segment at the Lost Dog Cafe in Binghamton.
It was a great 24-hour trip with the Bearcats! Now it's off to UMBC on Wednesday and a visit with the Retrievers! Remember to follow the whole trip on our tagboard: http://tgb.io/AERoadTrip/190662
