CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a light week of competition due to inclement weather America East men’s tennis teams did not compete. The women’s side features a standout student-athlete who swept both her singles and doubles matches on the road. Here’s a look at this week’s America East Women’s Tennis Player of the Week:
Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Shea Brodsky, So., Binghamton
Miami Beach, Fla./Dr. Michael Krop Senior High School
- Went 2-0 in both her singles and doubles matches.
- Shutout her opponent from St. Bonaventure at No. 6 singles (6-0, 6-0) to help the Bearcats take home a 7-0 victory from the Bonnies.
- Won her singles matches against St. John’s at the five spot (6-3, 6-3).
- Teamed up with Alexis Tashiro for a pair of weekend victories, defeating the Bonnies and St. Johns’ tandems on the road.
Around the League
- NJIT women won their third-straight match with a convincing 7-0 victory over Marist. Ksenia Kuzmenko collected wins at both singles and doubles from the top position over the weekend, winning a three-set tilt in singles (6-3, 4-6, 6-4).
- Albany women snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over non-conference opponent Bryant, handing the Bulldogs their seventh loss of the season.
- Binghamton men took the weekend off, but are set to travel for a series of road contests this weekend.
- The Bearcat women split a pair of contests this weekend, sweeping St. Bonaventure, 7-0, on the road. They lost in their Sunday matchup at St. John’s, 5-2.
- The Hartford women’s contest against Manhattan scheduled for this past weekend was postponed. Both the men and women are slated to host Hofstra on April 3, weather permitting.
- The UMBC men's and women's home tennis matches against Stony Brook were cancelled due to poor conditions. The women are slated to host Temple on April 5 with both squads welcoming Xavier on Saturday, April 6.
- The Stony Brook women will host a pair of matches over the weekend against St. Johns and Fordham, while the men will return to play in a home-court tilt against Fordham on April 12.
