"Upon review of an incident that occurred during the October 9, 2014, women's soccer contest between the University of Vermont and University of Maine, the America East Conference has hereby issued a public reprimand to Caroline Greer, Vermont student-athlete, who received a red card for fighting. Unsportsmanlike conduct is never acceptable, but when that conduct includes action that poses a potential health and safety concern, there is a higher level of scrutiny. In accordance with NCAA playing rules, Ms. Greer will automatically be suspended for her team's next two contests and the conference supports that penalty.
The America East expects our student-athletes and coaches to be mindful of their behavior and conduct at all times. We also support an environment that protects the health and safety of our teams. The well-being of our student-athletes is paramount and we will be vigilant to ensure that is not compromised."
