Binghamton, Stony Brook Learn NCAA Draws - AmericaEast.com

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Two days after the America East Championships were decided, the Binghamton men and the Stony Brook women have learned where their next match will be. The Bearcats will head south to face Georgia, while Stony Brook will go west to matchup with California, the NCAA announced Tuesday night.

Binghamton, which owns a 16-9 record, is making its ninth NCAA tournament apperance in the last 11 years and its sixth in a row. The matchup against Georgia, the No. 3 team in the country and the reigning SEC champion, will take place in Athens, Ga. on Friday, May 10 at 1 p.m.The Bulldogs boast four nationally-ranked singles players and have won six NCAA championship, most recently winning consecutive titles in 2007 and 2008. The other teams in the Athens regional are Wake Forest and Northwestern.

Stony Brook draws a first round match up with No. 7 California after posting a 12-4 record this season. The Seawolves will led by senior Nini Lagvilava, who is No. 115 in the ITA women's national singles rankings. Having appeared in all previous 32 NCAA championships, the Golden Bears will be a first round host for the eighth consecutive year. The match will also take place on Friday, May 10 at 1 p.m. Auburn and St. Mary's make up the second half of the Berkeley regional.
