CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Mons Knudtzon and Irene Santos-Bravo both had big weeks for their respective teams, earning America East Tennis Player of the Week honors as a result. With the conference championship on the horizon, many important conference matchups took place in the past week.

Knudtzon (Oslo, Norway) helped Stony Brook to a weekend split against conference foes. Against Hartford, the sophomore notched a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles and then made quick work of his opponent in the second singles spot (6-2, 6-1). Though, he fell in doubles to Binghamton, he was the only Stony Brook player to register a singles point in the match.

Santos-Bravo (Madrid, Spain) came up huge this weekend, helping the Great Danes defeat Binghamton and UMBC for the first time in the program’s Division I history. Against the Bearcats, the graduate student won at No. 2 double and then stepped into the No. 1 singles slot and took care of business, earning a 6-4, 7-6 (5) win. She then won again at the No. 1 spot against UMBC to cap off the weekend.

America East Men’s Tennis News & Notes

• Binghamton’s Ruben Haggai went 3-0 in singles play on the weekend, upping his record to 17-9 this season, primarily from the No. 5 spot.
• Josh Friedman had a win at No. 2 singles as Boston U. fell to Marist.
• Hartford fell to conference foes Stony Brook and Binghamton over the weekend.
• UMBC improved to 7-6 overall with a win over Howard.

America East Women’s Tennis News & Notes

• Binghamton split the weekend, beating Hartford and falling to Stony Brook.
• Lauren Davis continued her strong play at No. 1 singles, as Boston U. swept Florida International and then fell to No. 24 Texas.
• Hartford took a pair of losses against Stony Brook and Binghamton over the weekend.
• UMBC grabbed a doubles point early, but fell 4-1 to Albany.
• Stony Brook had a perfect weekend, beating Binghamton and Hartford, with Jackie Altansarnai winning a pair of singles matches.
