CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Gaulthier Berret of UMBC and Lauren Davis of Boston U. led their respective teams to impressive victories over the weekend, earning America East Tennis Player of the Week honors as a result. The America East Tennis Championship will begin this Friday on the campus of UMBC.
Berret (Lagny Sur Marne, France) capped his regular season career by winning in both singles and doubles play versus Temple. The senior combined with freshman teammate Justin Carter to claim a victory at No. 1 doubles before claiming a win at No. 4 singles that gave the Retrievers a 3-0 lead. With the win, Berret stands at 55-34 in singles play for his career.
Davis (Mitchellville, Md.) played a big role in Boston U.’s upset of No. 63 Boston College this weekend. The freshman, playing at the No. 1 position, rallied after dropping the first set for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory. Boston College is the highest ranked opponent the Terriers have defeated since beating No. 52 VCU in 2009. Davis’ efforts also helped snap a 13-match losing streak to ranked opponents.
America East Men’s Tennis News and Notes
- Binghamton won its sixth straight match, downing Niagara 6-1 behind freshman No. 1 Sid Hazarika.
- Boston U. posted a 7-0 victory over Hartford to clinch its first winning season since 2007.
- Hartford dropped its final regular season match to Boston U.
- Stony Brook finished its regular season slate with a 4-3 win over Fairfield.

- Albany beat ASA College and then fell 4-3 to Army with Rocio Lopez posting a perfect 4-0 weekend.
