CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Marcelo Locatelli of Stony Brook and Vivien Laszloffy of Boston U. have been named the America East Tennis Men's and Women's Players of the Week, the conference announced this afternoon. Both players helped their respective squads to important conference wins last week as the regular season winds down.

Locatelli (Londrina, Brazil) was essential in Stony Brook’s 4-1 win over Boston U. and in a non-conference win over NJIT. The freshman picked up a big doubles win and followed that up with a 7-6, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Locatelli then won his second No. 4 singles match of the weekend, this time against NJIT in 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 fashion.

Laszloffy (Budapest, Hungary) helped Boston U. defeat the defending conference champion Stony Brook Seawovles this weekend. The senior played No. 2 singles and doubles, coming away victorious in both. Improving to 5-2 on the season at the second singles slot, Laszloffy won her match in two sets (6-3, 7-5). She also went to 7-3 at No. 2 doubles this year.

America East Men’s Tennis News and Notes

• Binghamton won a pair of matches this weekend, at UMBC (6-1) and vs. Buffalo (4-3).
• Boston U. dropped its only match of the weekend to Stony Brook, 4-1.
• Hartford suffered a pair of setbacks last week, at Saint Peter’s (5-2) and Merrimack (6-3).
• UMBC fell 6-1 to Binghamton and will travel to play at Temple next weekend.

America East Women’s Tennis News and Notes

• Albany lost a close one to Hofstra on Saturday (4-3) before falling 7-0 to Stony Brook on Sunday.
• Binghamton took road losses to UMBC (5-2) and Temple (6-1).
• Hartford fell to Saint Peter’s (7-0) and Merrimack (7-2) on the road.
• UMBC earned a league win versus Binghamton (5-2) on senior day.
• The Stony Brook women beat Albany 7-0 before falling to Boston U. 4-1.
